Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s vision of the franchise is undoubtedly a botched and ultimately weird directorial work (although it has its own fair share of hilarious horror moments) but the most interesting stories related to Resurrection are not about the movie but the videogame tie- in the same name developed by the British Argonaut team. From both a crowd and fan perspective, it seemed like nothing more than a shameless attempt to make money by bringing one of the film’s only (and best) female leads back to life for quick and easy income. November 1997 brought with it one of the most reviled films within the Alien franchise: Alien – The Cloning. For each Alien Isolation there is an AVP: Extinction, for each Aliens (the arcade game) there is an Aliens: Colonial Marines. In video games, Alien-based titles and its sequels also follow this swing in quality. In the movies we have the colossal peak of the original released in 1979 and the incredible banality of Alien vs Predator 2: Requiem. However, the Alien franchise is a roller coaster ride in quality.
